Blue Matrix Leather BlazerI love an exaggerated look whether it’s an elongated sleeve, a wide shoulder or a bold or abstract neckline/collar - it’s simply different. I chose to beef up the silhouette in this Blue Matrix Leather Blazer. Inspired by the 80’s look. It makes a statement! The linebacker or working girl shoulder pads look was a big deal in the 1980’s. It’s all about playing with your own shape to create the ultimate hourglass silhouette. This creation actually happened by accident. The shoulders were in fact the original concept but the leather color pattern was not. I’m a designer who goes against the grain. I design what I love to wear so it doesn’t necessarily always align with current trends. I just create the vision that lives inside me for that moment. My sketch remained bare for a while before I could truly pair it with the perfect fabric (Leather being the furthest from my mind). I shopped and found some beautiful blue hides and I threw in one green - some mixed textures; solids vs multi-colored, some heavier weight than others- still unsure if it would be right for this project. I purchased it anyway. I would use it for something else later down the line. I learned that when you see it and love it, buy it anyway. I purchased the last few pieces they had left. I fell in love with the richness in quality and color. What was I going to do? I loved these skins but didn’t have enough of one hide to do a complete project so I decided to piece them all together and came up with this look.Ways to wear an exaggerated wide shoulder garment:***Add a belt, button it up or do both to create a cinched effect.***Makeup @katt_thilletPhotography @jmicaphotography |
